Gadsby is an artist and set designer. She primarily creates work for live performance including Theatre, Dance, Ballet and Opera.

Her background in installation and site specific works influences the design process creating works of scale and scope.

Sydney Theatre Company’s resident Designer from 2016-2019, she designed a body of work for the Company and, as part of the core artist team, developed the artistic programs and visual marketing for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Her work as a designer is highly collaborative, working closely with her directors to develop a conceptual vision for a production. In 2017 and 2018 Elizabeth was the associate director and costume designer on the Sydney Chamber Opera and Victorian Opera production of the THE RAPE OF LUCRETIA presented at Carriageworks in Sydney and then at the Theatre Royal in Hobart.

Elizabeth is a recipient of an Australia Council Art Start Grant, a William Fletcher Scholar and was the 2015 artist in residence for City of Sydney’s Creative Living Work Space program. She has also designed the event space at the MCA for VIVID IDEAS.

She is a guest artist lecturing in Set and Costume Design at NIDA.
